HDO Blood Pressure Equipment

Blood pressure measurement is important in animals. It can be indicative of other systemic problems such as hyperthyroidism in cats, kidney disease in both dogs and cats, as well as heart disease. Blood pressure measurement can be both costly and time consuming, therefore, it is not performed on a routine basis. High Definition Oscillometry makes it practical and affordable.

Elevated blood pressure should be measured in:

  • Vision problems in cats

Too high pressure leads to end organ damage

Form of Hypertension  SAD  DAD
 Risk for End/Target Organ Damage
Mild elevated BP  >150  >95   Low risk
Moderate elevated BP  >160  >100  Increased risk
Severe elevated BP  >180  >120  Severe risk

Systolic Pressures below 80 mmHg can be dangerous to the individual

  • Anesthesia
  • Heart deriving influences on CO
  • Trauma
  • Poisoning
  • Bleeding
  • Drug related
